Eyewear by Tom Ford

Tom Ford, one of the greatest designers in the league, who has also held position as Creative Director for fashion houses like Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, ahs made his mark in the respective field. He can actually be called the pioneer of luxury goods. It was his imagination that broke the set boundaries for goods. After giving a new direction to luxury goods, Tom Ford is looking forward to eyewear. TOM FORD eyewear collection has three basic features; strong frames, simple designs (as yet) and a lot of shapes and colors. The whole collection amalgamates various classical shapes like the aviators and other overstated sunglasses. The details have been given a special place in the designs. It is indeed a luxurious collection. Believe me, own one of these and you will feel like a superstar.

‘Vote For Karen Walker’- latest eyewear from Karen

Karen Walker, the name that rules the quirky fashion world today started in 1990 with almost nothing. She was recognized as late as 1998, when Walker showcased her first runway line in Hong Kong. She is known for her quirky, chic designs. In recent years, she has presented her clothing on the ramps from Australia to London to New York. In 2005, she expanded her clothing line to eyewear. Her eyewear is as cool as her clothing and sometimes seems unwearable too. Her first eyewear line called ‘sunnies’ sold big in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Now, she has come up with a line of shades for 2007 called ‘Vote for Karen Walker’. The name may sound out of place but the shades are just right for this season. The range is large; it has 33 designs to offer. Fun, funk, colors, are the tags I can give to this line. However, the designs can’t be worn on a serious call but will work for you from a beach to a movie. The colors are sharp and you may take time while picking these. But remember, the neon colors are in this season, so you have a reason to get one of these. The frames are large, however, not too big, which is another reason making them a must have. The only thing I didn’t understand is why the models in the pictures are crying or is that sweat. Well, whatever it is, I would like to be enlightened on this very fact. Anyone?

Stylish sunglasses could risk your eyes

These days stylish sunglasses are in vogue, but do you have any idea that we are risking our eyes by using such stylish glasses that offer little or no protection from harmful UV rays. A survey conducted for the College of Optometrists found that 63% teenagers and young adults often select sunglasses purely on the basis of price and style without considering safety or protection they offer. This rose to 80 % in the under-25 age group, as many were found keen to emulate the brands and style of goggles worn by movie stars or other celebrities in glossy magazines. The survey also highlighted on those who didn’t use glasses at all. It said one in every seven of the 1,500 surveyed did not wear sunglasses at all. Experts opine that wearing poor-quality sunglasses could harm eyes and increase the risk of cataracts that can cause eyesight loss in later life. Although all brands legally sold in shops in Britain have to meet basic standards, yet there is abundance of forged copies of classy and fashionable brands in the market that do not comply with the standards. Light-colored eyes are most vulnerable to sun damage if they fail to put on good-quality and standardized sunglasses that protect against ultraviolet rays. Experts say that although designer-label shades could cost well over £100 generally offer good lens quality, whereas the low-priced sunglasses from high street chain stores provide eye protection that was just as good. Experts recommend a simple quality test before buying any kind of goggles. Hold the sunglasses at arm’s length and tilt them slightly, focus on an object at a distance, move the sunglasses up and down and see whether there is any distortion. If there is distortion at the lens edges that means lens are of poor quality that can harm eyes. If the lenses are high quality, there should be no movement. Long-term impact on eyes can be avoided by wearing high quality and standardized glasses. Especially these days when the harm UV rays cause to our body and eyes is publicly known, it is therefore important to make sure that children wear sunglasses so that any long-term damage is minimized.

See, how easy is that! Moreover, the advantage in owning a pair of a sunglasses and owning a pair of any other luxurious product is that sunglasses last forever. Yes! Generally they do, unless you don’t have very slippery hands. Get into the mind of a schizophrenic with virtual hallucination goggles

Now, you can get into the mind of schizophrenic with the latest thing to hit the market – virtual hallucination goggles. If any of you have experienced the Adlabs 3600 experience of seeing something and being in it, well these goggles seem to be something on that level. These goggles were created to recreate the mental state that schizophrenics undergo. The target users for these goggle are people like cops, psychiatrists, healthcare workers, and others who work with schizophrenic. You could say they are walking in their shoes. The goggles are the product of psychiatrists at Janssen L.P. (formerly known as Janssen Pharmaceutica Products). Founded in 1953 by Belgian emigre Dr. Paul Janssen, Janssen became part of Johnson & Johnson in 1961. It develops and markets a variety of prescription drugs for its parent, Johnson & Johnson; and its main focus is on mental health treatments. Currently the goggles come with two interactive scenarios. In one, you’re riding a bus in which other riders appear and disappear, birds of prey claw at the windows, and voices hiss, "He’s taking you back to the FBI!" The other features a trip to the drugstore, where the pharmacist seems to be handing you poison instead of pills, and hostile customers stare at you in disgust. The goggles remind me of the movie Strange Days in which Ralph Fiennes plays this shady dealer, Lenny Nero, who sells dreams and hustles nightmares, dealing in real-life experiences through a new technology that makes every sensation immediate. Who knows perhaps we are living in strange days.
