Bausch & Lomb to recall limited stocks of ReNu MultiPlus contact lens solution

Just, 10 months after its global recall of the popular contact lens solution which was linked to a serious eye infection, Bausch & Lomb on Tuesday said it has started a limited recall of its ReNu MultiPlus contact lens solution. It said that the solution had traces of iron, which could lead to the discoloring of the solution and shorten its shelf life. However, until now there have been no reports as such of any health problems associated with use of the solution. The company is still struggling with the financial fallout from the recall last May of the ReNu with MoistureLoc solution. This solution was linked with a rare but latent blinding fungal eye infection. The MultiPlus solution was manufactured at the company’s plant in Greenville, South Carolina. Virtually, the company believes that the entire affected product that was manufactured about a year ago has already been consumed. The recall entails 12 lots of the product. Spokeswoman Barbara Kelley said about 1 million bottles were distributed in the United States and the company is also recalling about 500,000 bottles distributed in Canada, Latin America, Korea and Taiwan. She said, "The root cause is a single batch of raw ingredients’. "This is a very different situation than MoistureLoc,’ she added. The company has also notified the U.S. Food and Drug Administration about this recall. The company has advised clients to cast off any lens care solution that appears to be discolored. The recalled batch all carry the expiration date "2008 – 03" on the bottle. So, the expiration date must be checked first. Bausch said that they didn’t expect the loss associated with the recall to have any considerable impact on its financial results.

Oversize things, we all know are the latest in fashion. And so, we are going for oversized rings, oversized sunglasses etc… So, I have here a very cool pair of sunglasses (obviously, over sized). But, the surprise is these are different. I know you have seen a hundreds of big ones, from Dior to D$G, But I promise these are in with a new concept and I liked it. They have a butterfly shape and they are painted. Yes, they are hand painted by the local Philadelphia artists. Thus each piece is totally unique. I am thinking of trying my artistic skills on a pair of sunglasses. Hope, it doesn’t end in disaster. The price tag reads $38.00. Cool!
