They say that eyes are your windows to the world and a window to your soul for others. But most of us today have become quite careless when it comes to keeping our peepers healthy. We spend long hours in front of digital monitors with our gaze fixated on the screen or forgo getting our daily fill of shut eye to squeeze the most out of a working day. However, caring for the eyes isn’t rocket science and here are a few tips that can help you keep your peepers healthy.

Prevention is cure

Keeping the eyes protected from dust, debris, chemicals and harmful sunlight is quintessential and helps prevent eye problems in the long run. As a rule of thumb, you should always wear polarizes and UV-safe sunglasses whenever you are out in the sun. If you live in a dusty region or are traveling through one, you should keep your glasses handy and bring a good quality cleansing eye drop with you. Always wear safety glasses when working with tools of any kind including lawn mowers as most of these throw small, sharp debris all around which can hit your eye and damage it.

Rest your eyes often

The main cause of most eye ailments today is the lack of rest for the organs. Resting your eyes simply doesn’t mean turning the TV off or walking away from a workstation, it also means that you actually shut them up for a while, cleanse them with a cooling or lubricating eye drop or plain cold water and allow the natural lubrication of the eyes to refresh them.

Early diagnosis of eye problems

Thanks to the fast paced modern lifestyle, eye problems get neglected more often than not. Most people take something like slightly blurry vision to be a result of sitting at the computer for too long, though, what they don’t realize is that blurry vision for more than three days could be sign of a real problem. The best way to avoid all such problems is to pay your eye doctor a visit every one or two months or to simply ask your physician for an eye exam each month.

Optimize nutrition

Various diet fads have left millions around the world undernourished and at the risk of developing eye disorders. The most common types of ingredients you need to include in your diet to boost eye health are foods like carrot that provide you with sufficient Vitamin A. A deficiency of this vitamin results in ailments like night blindness and xerophthalmia. Cell damage caused by oxidation causes a kind of biological deterioration that is usually associated with aging, though it can cause problems for younger people as well. Age-related macular degeneration can be prevented by the consumption of vitamins A, C and E while minerals like zinc should also be accounted for in diets to keep eyes healthy.

Our eyes are the most beautiful organs that help us to see the world around us. In fact it is believed that our eyes reflect our soul. We must protect and take proper care of these delicate organs. Ayurveda provides a lot of remedies for eye care. Here are some of the tips on how to protect your eyes.

Gazing

According to Ayurvedic studies, the Sun rules the eyes. Soft gazing at the sun for about 10 minutes can improve your eyesight. This gazing should be done at early sunrise or at late sunset. Not only does solar gazing helps in improving eyesight but also activates the third eye, making your mind free from depressions and anxiety. Gazing should not be done if you are suffering from any serious eye infections.

Washing

Start your day by splashing some cool water on your eyes. You can also retain some cool water in the mouth while washing your eyes and blinking. This helps in balancing pitta around the head region.

If you are suffering from any eye disorders, you can use triphala tea to wash them. Triphala is a popular eye tonic and has anti-inflammatory properties. This eyewash is beneficial in treating glaucoma, cataracts disorders, poor eyesight and conjunctivitis, swollen and itchy eyes.

Oleating

Netra basti is a poweful ayurvedic remedy that cleans the entire eye socket with warm ghee. This treatment helps in cleansing and nourishing your dry eyes. Here, the person is made to lie down with his eyes opened and ghee covering over his eye for around 15 minutes. The ghee cools and lubricates all the internal organs of the eyes. Netra basti is beneficial for those with prolonged exposure to computer, squint eyes, eye allergies, blurred vision and eye spasms. As it works directly on the nervous system, netra basti heals emotional trauma.

Triphala decoction for Dry eyes

Boil a handful of castor leaves in water and leave it to cool. When this solution attains room temperature, dip cotton gauze in it and place it over both the eyes. When the cotton becomes cold, dip it again in the solution and place it over your eyes.

To a bowl, add a glass of water and 2 spoons of triphala powder. Boil the solution until it gets reduced to quarter of a glass. When it is lukewarm, filter it and add a spoon of honey. Drinking this liquid daily strengthens your eyes.

Fruits and vegetables for Dark circles

Ayurvedic medicine recommends applying several fruits and vegetables to the area below and around the eyes to reduce swelling or dark circles. Apples are rich in tannin and apple slices are recommended for reducing dark circles. Cucumber acts as a cooling agent for your eyes. Potatoes are rich in starch and hence recommended for treating dark circles.

Homemade kajal to improve eyesight

Take one spoon each of butter and powdered sugar candy, to this, add half a spoon of powdered black pepper and mix all the ingredients together. Chew this mixture early in the morning for atleast 60 days and you will definitely have a better vision.

Add 2-3 drops of rose water to your eyes at bedtime once or twice a week. Burn a lamp with homemade ghee and prepare kajal from the flame with the help of a bronze plate. Apply kajal to your eyes at bedtime and wipe it with a damp cloth the next day. This treatment enhances the beauty of your eyes and also keeps them healthy.

Triphala for conjunctivitis

Triphala is an effective ayurvedic medicine prepared by blending herbs such as amalki, haritaki and bhibhitaki. The triphala lotion is generally recommended by Ayurveda for many eye disorders. The triphala powder is mixed with little water and the mixture is allowed to stay for half an hour to get the lotion. Wash your eyes with this lotion, three or four times a day. Triphala lotion is also helpful for eye problems such as conjunctivitis and sore eyes. Washing your eyes regularly with triphala improves your eyesight. Triphala churna consumed with honey or ghee at bed time serves as an eye tonic.

Having a healthy eye is not an accidental thing. You cannot just rely over the annual eye examination or checking your spectacles or contact lenses to take care of your eyesight or health. You need a better and active kind of role to maintain your eye health and protect your eyes. Among the various ways, a proper food also plays an important role in protecting your eyes. As per various experts, the eye problems like glaucoma, contracts and macular degeneration are all affected by the things you eat. Hence a couple of fruits and vegetables in your diet could reduce these problems to a great extent in the coming future. Hence it is really important to maintain a good eye health with good food choice as suggested below.

Getting started for a better eye health

If you want to have a good vision, it is important to take care of your eye’s health. A better eyes health comes by taking care of the eye’s most important parts including retina, pupil, iris, vitreous humor, lens, cornea and optic nerve. You need to add a couple of things in your diet, which will help you in nourishing these eye parts healthy and in perfect order. This will eventually help you in making your eyes healthy.

Add food with rich carotenoids

As per studies, having food, which is a good source of carotenoids, like Kale, spinach and collard greens allows to reduce the risk of macular degeneration in your eyes that comes with aging. Usually the food with rich carotenoids sources are identified by the leafy green vegetable as named above. So, when people turn old the factor like macular eye nutrition simply becomes very much important, and could be taken care by having food with high carotenoids.

Add food with high source of lutein

In order to lower the risk of popular eye disease like cataract, you are supposed to include diets, which are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin. Hence the experts have suggested choosing food items including green peas, turnip greens, broccoli, collard greens, corn, kale, zucchini, romaine lettuce, yolks and spinach. All these food items are the best source of lutein and zeaxanthin apart from the carotenoids. As per research, people having the food items rich in lutein and zeaxanthin is less likely to see things like the macular degeneration in their eyes, which is often seen in people of age group 40 to 50 years.

Food for good vision

If you want to add an edge to your eyes in terms of effective vision consider having food, which are rich in lycopene and beta carotene. These include apricots, blueberries and bilberries. The beta carotene in these food items is usually transformed into vitamin A, which is basically a very important antioxidant element for better vision and eye health. These things help you a lot in resisting the oxidative stress found in the eyes, which are competent to damage the tissues and cells of eye lenses.

Also, if the oxidative stress prolongs for a long run, this could end up causing cataract in your eyes, which can damage the blood supply to your eyes. This brings in provoking things like macular degeneration. Lastly by consuming these food items, you could also reduce the eye fatigue, which makes your eyes healthy and perfect.

Final word

Eyes are very important organ of man’s body, hence it has to be kept healthy and in perfect order. By knowing the different food items (as suggested above), which could help you in keeping your eyes healthy can make its vision better for long. So, have proper food to get good eye health.

When it comes to choosing a sun glass, you need to be very careful as you’ll have to protect your eyes with style. Under sun protection, sun glass plays a prominent role by keeping your eyes safe from the ultraviolet rays. They also reduce the stress in your eyes and keep them safe from other hazards. Don’t get confused as to which one to choose as here are some simple steps which will help you to choose the best sun glass for your eyes.

Lens color

The color of the lens does not affect the amount of UV rays that your glass can resist. All you need to worry about is the UV protective coating; whether the lens is a dark colored or light colored one. However, if you really need a suggestion, then a dark gray colored one would do well as it provides the least color deformation. People who are suffering from color blindness should avoid using green colored lenses as it offers the most color distortion.

Quality of the sunglasses

This is an important feature you need to consider while buying sunglasses – optical quality of the lens. You can do so by looking at something with a rectangular pattern by using those glasses. You could look at the floor tile if you don’t find anything. Adjusting the glasses at a comfortable distance, cover one of your eyes. Then move the glasses slowly from up to down and side to side. If the lines remain at a straight angle, then you can declare that the lens is good. If you see the lines wiggling, then you’d better choose another pair.

Lens Shape

Though there aren’t any lens shapes which you might describe as right or wrong, considering these tips while buying one would be better. Choose wrap-around lenses as they offer extra protection from the rain, sand and other dust particles. They also block most of the light hitting your eyes. Choose a lens shape which complements your face shape – whether it’s oval, round, triangular or square.

Interchangeable Lens

Many glasses are available with removable lenses of a variety of colors. This facility allows you to alter your eye protection to your doings and current activities. You need to consider this choice if you need the best performance in a variety of situations.

Lens Coating

Don’t hesitate to buy sunglasses which are expensive. The more the price, the more layers of coatings they are said to have. There are many layers of coatings such as hydrophobic coating which helps in repelling water, anti-scratch coating which gives a longer durability and anti fog coating for a cloudy day. Look for at least one of these coatings while buying one.

Lens Construction

There are two methods which are commonly used in the construction of a lens. Lenses prepared using the injection method provide the best clarity though they are quite expensive. Lenses made via the bent-sheet procedure are inexpensive when compared with the former ones. The only difference is that the lenses which cost more offer the best optical clarity while those which are of low cost yield a little bit lesser clarity.

Keep all these points while choosing your sun glasses and then you’ll be experiencing a lot of improvement in your sight than the last time. The frame doesn’t affect the lenses any way. You can choose it according to your style.

Britney suffered from a very low key public image in the past few years. Her lifestyle too hanged in a dangerous borderline as she partied all night frequently. Somehow she lost her touch in dancing and music numbers that once made her the pop queen.

Britney’s lack of discipline in personal and professional life made her very ill and she had to be hospitalized. Later she even went to a rehabilitation center for her recovery. During this time Britney’s father controlled her finances, professional and media commitments. The authority to control Britney’s finances was transferred to Jamie Spears following a court judgment. However, the lawyers involved in this case strongly believe that Britney is now in a great position to take care of her finances again. Moreover, close sources revealed that Britney is also showing positive intent to regain her life, discipline, career and finances in the coming few months.

Emma Watson, all known for her wardrobe malfunctions more than her “Hermione Granger” character, recently was in London for her latest Harry Potter flick, where she miscalculated and showed more than she expected. Now she laughs it out by saying, “At least I was wearing an underwear”.

The not so teenager admits that it could have been worse. She said that this was just a small wardrobe malfunction and this keeps happening; she also added that she is only learning right now. Hopefully, the wizard gal is learning how to carry herself rather than giving treat to others.

Another incident happened when she was going to a late night showbiz party. Intentionally or not, she showed too much than what was expected. This disaster happened when she was wearing a silk dress with plunging neckline. The portion which held the dress in place came undone, exposing much more than she wanted. Poor Emma! I hope she had her friend’s magic cloak with her, which might have saved her from such an embarrassing situation.

Eighties trend of big and chunky is again back and the credit to that goes to the European fashion. Sunglasses’ trend has changed from thin wire frames to large framed, sexy and classy sunglasses. However, Aviators are still the choice of day. Sunglasses are equally needed in winters to protect our eyes from UV rays. You can think to buy new pair of sunglasses for this winter. Unlike, summers winter sunglasses usually have lighter lens. So, keep this in mind before you shop for winter. The return of large sunglasses is boon as big glasses cover the sensitive area around your eyes. Jay Hersh, owner of the Los Angeles celebrity-shopping haven, Intuition, and Chief Shopping Officer of Visa Signature, pinned that oversized accessories were popular in her Hollywood clientele like Halle Berry, Demi Moore as well as hotel heiress Paris Hilton and teen queen Lindsay Lohan. Some of the sexiest collection for this winter is from Versace and Police. Shown above is Tortoiseshell Sunglasses from Versace. Sunglass features Tortoiseshell frame with brown gradient lenses and gold-tone logo at temples. This will fully protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Price: $190.00
